Typhoon Danas made landfall near Budai Township, Chiayi County around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, bringing gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Typhoon Danas weakened to a tropical storm after its eye departed Taiwan early Monday. The storm toppled Tainan's iconic archway of Nankunshen Daitian Temple, causing widespread flooding across the neighborhood.

Initiated in August 2022, the 134.2-km-long Pinglu Canal stretches from the Xijin reservoir in the city of Hengzhou to Qinzhou port in the south of Guangxi. The Tian Jing Hao was used in the waterway construction of the canal on Aug. 20, 2023. Since then, it has dredged around 2,570,000 cubic meters of sand and mud. Since it was put into operation in 2010, the Tian Jing Hao has played an important role in the construction of major ports along China's domestic coast and major national strategic projects.
